3 Cops Dead, 7 Missing As Unknown Gunmen Attack Police Tactical Teams In Benue

An attack launched on police tactical teams in Benue State on Friday resulted in the death of three cops while seven others have gone missing.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Force PRO, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this in a statement he issued in Abuja on Sunday, noted that the sad incident occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government, Benue State.

The unknown gunmen are according to him suspected to be armed herdsmen and local militias.

He further disclosed that six suspects arrested in connection with the incident are ‘assisting with useful information’.

‘The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six (6) suspects in an ongoing response operation in Benue State, following a deadly attack on Police Tactical Teams by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias at Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area.

The attack, which occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, resulted in the death of three police officers, while seven others are still missing. The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Police Command, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, is currently leading the operation geared towards rescuing the missing officers and arresting the fleeing suspects’ the statement added.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who , he noted, has described the attack on the cops as ‘cruel, unwarranted, and an affront on the good people of Benue State’, has also ordered the deployment of additional tactical assets to the troubled area.

The police chief has vowed that ‘no stone will be left unturned in restoring peace and security in Benue State’.

‘The arrested suspects are undergoing custodial interrogation and assisting with useful information. Equally, the IGP has directed the deployment of additional tactical assets to the area and assured that no stone will be left unturned in restoring peace and security in Benue State’ the statement added.
