Gov Nasir Idris Flags Off Dual Carriage Project In Jega
Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has flagged off a dual carriage project in Jega as part of his administration’s efforts to transform road infrastructure in the state.
The Abdulsalam Road project has ₦5.14 billion as its project cost.
A statement issued in Birnin Kebbi and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the new project has demonstrated the Kauran Kwandu’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Kebbi State.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Architect Sa’ad Musa Sakaba noted that the project that will be handled by Habibu Engineering Nigeria Limited and has 12 months as completion period, includes the redesign and upgrading of the old single carriageway to a dual carriageway with proper drainage and solar streetlights.
‘The scope of work covers full scarification of the carriageway and shoulders, filling of embankments, construction of reinforced concrete drains on both sides, access culverts, stone pitching, asphalt surfacing, road markings, and the creation of four new roundabouts’ he said.
Arc. Sakaba explained that the total cost comprises ₦3.58 billion for main works, ₦72 million for relocation of water pipes, and ₦1.48 billion as compensation for affected structures while commending Governor Idris for ensuring that only qualified and experienced contractors are engaged to guarantee quality and timely completion.
He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to diligently supervise the project and appreciated the governor’s confidence in the Ministry of Works.
The Sarkin Kabin Jega, Alhaji Muhammad Arzika expressed profound appreciation to the governor for the road project in Jega.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Idris said progress cannot be achieved unless Jega is opened up for more infrastructure development.
He assured that funds for the project have been fully provided and awarded to a competent firm, noting that his administration never awards contracts without the means to complete them.
The governor highlighted other ongoing projects across the state, including the renovation of Jega Hospital, approval for nine general hospital renovations, completion of 47 primary healthcare centres, plans for 45 more, and rehabilitation of both primary and secondary schools.
He also mentioned projects at the School of Health Science and Haliru Abdu Arabic Secondary School, emphasizing that his administration is touching every sector from health and education to security enhancement and poverty eradication.
