Why My Defection Ceremony Was Postponed Indefinitely-Taraba Gov
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State on Tuesday said his defection ceremony will no longer hold as planned citing abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
Recall that 25 young girls, who are students at the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, were on Sunday night taken away by bandits while the Vice Principal of the school , Hassan Makuku was also shot dead.
Kefas had announced his decision to leave PDP for APC and the defection ceremony was scheduled to hold in Jalingo today.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the governor in a statement he issued on Tuesday however said it would be insensitive to organize political activities amid the nation’s latest security tragedy.
‘My heart is with the families of the abducted children. The safety of children must remain a national priority.”
As a father, as a leader, and as a governor whose administration has prioritised security and education, it is morally right and nationally responsible to suspend all major political events until the situation receives the urgent attention it deserves’ he added.
The governor urged reflection, prayer, and unity, rather than celebration or political mobilization while asking the security agencies to increase efforts to rescue the girls. He also urged Nigerians to remain calm, vigilant, and prayerful.
The governor noted that a new date for the defection ceremony would be announced after consultations and when deemed appropriate.
He prayed for the protection of all children and for the restoration of peace across the country-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme? Kindly send SMS to 08035023079, 08059100286, 09094171980. Thank you
