My 2027 Kano Guber Election Comments Not Unseemly-Housing Minister…No, It’s ‘Unguarded’-APC Chairman
Kano State APC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas has reacted to the comments made by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Attah about the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state especially the party’s gubernatorial primary election.
The minister had publicly endorsed Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau and declared support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 Kano State governorship election.
Team@orientactualmags.co learned that the APC Chairman in a letter sent to the minister described his comments as ‘unguarded’ noting that it can create misunderstandings and disunity within the party.
Internal affairs of the party, he noted, fall strictly under the purview of the party officials and the spokespersons, adding that failure to recognize this fact and comply can result in a disciplinary action.
Reacting to the letter sent to him by the APC chairman, the minister, who spoke through his media aide, Seyi Olorunsola however said it is within democratic rights to hold opinions and express such when necessary while noting that his statements are personal assessments aimed at providing strategic political insight, not official declarations by the party.
Attah reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and President Bola Tinubu noting that declaring support for Senator Barau’s candidacy is a patriotic opinion on the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 guber election, and not an attempt to override the party officials.
He also cautioned against allowing party matters to enter public domain at a time when the country is facing pressing security challenges.
