PDP Leadership Imbroglio: Saraki Was Right, Caretaker Committee ‘Sensible’ Course Of Action-Sule Lamido

PDP Leadership Imbroglio: Saraki Was Right, Caretaker Committee ‘Sensible’ Course Of Action-Sule Lamido

As the leadership imbroglio in PDP continues, former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido on Thursday supported the line of argument canvassed by former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki ahead of the national convention held by the party in Ibadan a few days ago, while also emphasizing the need to ignore the outcome of the convention in question and set up a national caretaker committee without delay.

Recall that Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, had three days before the PDP National Convention offered solution to the leadership imbroglio in the party by calling for the suspension of the national convention and the constitution of a caretaker committee.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Alhaji Sule Lamido, who gave his take on the outcome of the Ibadan convention while addressing his supporters including former local government chairmen, former commissioners, and other political appointees, who paid him a solidarity visit at his Sharada office in Kano on Thursday, called for the dissolution of the National Working Committee produced by the Ibadan elective convention and the immediate constitution of a national caretaker committee.

The party has also gotten a 10-day ultimatum from Alhaji Sule Lamido to address the intraparty conflict while lamenting that the seeming intractable intraparty conflict has gotten long-time stakeholders like him sidelined by ‘new forces’ within the party.

‘The current turmoil in the party is partly linked to efforts to undermine my political relevance’ Lamido said.

The former governor also clarified and submitted that the legal action he took is not aimed at forcing himself on the party as its leader but rather to protect the PDP’s legacy and defend his fundamental rights, which had been violated.

Umar Damagum and Samuel Anyanwu , he added, remain the legitimate leaders of the party until their tenure expires on December 8, 2025.

‘I am pushing for a caretaker committee. I am calling on Wike, Damagum, and others to forgive one another and support the setting up of a unified caretaker body’ he submitted.

Alhaji Sule Lamido urged PDP leaders to convene a joint meeting to honestly address the intraparty conflict in the party and restore it to its rightful place in national politics while urging his supporters to remain calm until December 8 to see how events will unfold-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
