I Was Marked For Elimination By ‘Unserious Individuals’ Who Planned October Coup-Defence Minister

Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa on Sunday shed some light on the foiled coup plot in October last year while calling the army officers who wanted to overthrow President Bola Tinubu via the coup plot in question ‘unserious individuals’.

The Defence Minister, who was the Chief of Defence Staff at that material time, disclosed that he was marked for elimination by the coup plotters.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Defence minister, who disclosed this while appearing on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme on Sunday, added that the coup plotters failed to realize that ousting a government easily like that is an impossible dream.

‘I was also a target. I was supposed to be arrested, and if I refused, I was supposed to be shot. But that’s the job. And anybody who goes into a coup, I mean, zeroes his mind because you know, if you succeed, good, if you don’t succeed, whatever consequences come, you’re ready for it. But again, I think these guys are just a bunch of very unserious individuals.

If you look at the calibre of the individuals, if you look at them, I don’t know what has gotten into their heads to think that they could take on the armed forces like that. What I even said was that even Nigerians would have fought them. Even without the armed forces, Nigerians would have stood against them.
