Oyetola, Oyebamiji, Lawal Emphasize ‘Unity’, ‘Cohesion’ As 2 Senators, 3 Reps Members Formally Join APC In Osun

Senator Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East), Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), Rep Sanya Omirin (Ijesha South federal constituency), Rep Wole Oke (Ijesha North federal constituency) and Rep Taofeeq Ajilesoro (Ife federal constituency), who had last year announced their decision to switch ‘political party affiliation’, have formally joined APC.

Osun state APC bigwigs and party officials including Minister of Marine and Blue Economy,  Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the National Secretary, Barrister Basiru Ajibola, and the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji in their separate speeches during the defection ceremony held at the Freedom Park, Osogbo on Saturday assured the new members of  equal treatment with the old members.

.

Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola asserted that there are no ‘strangers’ in the state APC adding that ‘we are all one united family’. He added that everyone has prioritized commitment to the progress of ‘our dear state’ and resolved to reclaim Osun State, preserve unity and return the state to a ‘purposeful leadership’.

Giving his speech, Osun State APC gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who is popularly called AMBO, emphasized the need for continued unity, cohesion and mutual respect while adding that reclaiming the state requires ‘unity of effort’.

‘Together in unity and mutual respect, we shall secure victory for the progressives and restore Osun to its rightful place as a beacon of good governance and sustainable development.

My joy knows no bound as we begin the countdown to the emergence of a truly peoples’ government in Osun. A government that will truly represent the people and deliver equitable development across the length and breadth of our dear state.

Your Honours, taking a decision to join the progressive fold at this critical moment in the history of our dear state is not only courageous but timely. By your action today, you have demonstrated your true commitment to the good people of Osun State. In you, we see again, that nothing is too much to sacrifice for the greater good of our people and of our dear state.

As we prepare earnestly for the 2026 and 2027 elections, your entry into our party strengthens our collective resolve and broadens the base of experience, influence, and grassroots connection needed to secure victory for the good people of Osun State.

No doubt, your movement into the APC at this time is a clear demonstration that the progressive vision remains the most viable pathway for development, stability, and prosperity in our dear state. At a time when Osun is drifting dangerously toward economic uncertainty, administrative decline and consistent inefficiency, it has become imperative for every well-meaning politician, stakeholder, and patriot to rise above partisan divides and unite under a common purpose to rescue and rebuild our state as the task before us transcends individual ambition; it is about safeguarding the future of our children and restoring responsible governance’ he said.

The state APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal urged party members in the state to get ready for the August 8, 2026 guber election while noting that what happened on Saturday is unprecedented in the political history of the state.

He added that two serving senators and three reps members leaving the ruling party in the state for the main opposition party should ‘without sounding immodest’ send clear signals to the Accord party and PDP that the desired change of leadership in the state is approaching.

Sooko Tajudeen Lawal also called the PDP defectors ‘authentic political gladiators’, who are not ‘pushovers’ but rather ‘goal getters’ while congratulating them for making a bold decision to join the APC at a crucial time in the political history of the state and most advantageous moment.

Their defection to APC, he added, will translate to improvement of the status of the party and will stand the party in good stead ahead of the 2026 and 2027 elections while noting that their contributions have been felt before their formal defection on Saturday.

Urging them to sustain their support for the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal added that the state exco members will rely on the superlative advice of leaders including the PDP defectors for the running of the party whenever it is required for the collective realization of political aspirations at the state and national levels.

He urged party members to ensure easy integration of the national assembly members and their supporters who have ‘gloriously’ defected to APC, in their respective constituencies.
