LGs: Osun Assembly Passes Bill Seeking To Tighten Control Over Bank Accounts
Osun State House of Assembly on Monday passed a bill seeking to tighten control over bank accounts of local governments in the state into law.
The parliament is through the Osun State Local Government Amendment No 2 Bill 2026, seeking to implement more rigid rules and oversight to prevent errors and it was passed into law after presentation of report by the Chairman of the Committee on Public Account, Hon Bamidele Rasheed, who represents Osogbo State Constituency.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the House of Assembly through the private member’s bill aims to promote financial transparency and accountability, enhance oversight and due process, improve fiscal management which will help to create a clearer framework for opening, managing, and operating LG bank accounts. This will also make it easier to track revenues, enforce compliance, and boost internally generated revenue (IGR) across the 30 LGAs in the state.
The Majority Leader, Hon Kofoworola Adewumi who represents Ede North State Constituency, later moved a motion for its adoption which was seconded by Hon Kasope Abolarin of Ifedayo state constituency.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun, who presided over the plenary session, said clean copies would be produced in due course which will be forwarded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
