Why I’ll Restore Petrol Subsidy If Elected President In 2027-NRM Presidential Aspirant

National Rescue Movement (NRM) presidential aspirant, Mr Faduri Oluwadamilare Joseph has submitted that the decision to remove petrol subsidy was poorly made adding that if elected president in 2027, he will reverse the decision in question and restore petrol subsidy without delay.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had during his inaugural address on May 29, 2023, announced an end to ‘petrol subsidy’ which led to increase in the pump price of petrol.

Arguing that the removal of petrol subsidy was a decision taken without sufficient foresight hence the negative consequences, Mr Faduri Oluwadamilare Joseph also noted that necessary proactive measures were not taken which had since made Nigerians face significant challenges.

Mr Faduri Oluwadamilare Joseph, a state-certified healthcare professional in the United States of America, who said this while talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com in Ilorin on Tuesday, also submitted that the removal of petrol subsidy has only been advantageous to the rich with the poor becoming poorer. 

‘I will return petrol subsidy if elected president because it was designed to ease things for the poor. The way it was removed made the situation favour only the rich’ he said.

 The presidential hopeful, who said the removal of petrol subsidy has only made more money available to the governors, added that if elected president, he will restore petrol subsidy immediately and if its removal will be considered later, it will be well-planned and will only be done after addressing problems in the nation’s power sector as this will help to reduce the number of ‘petrol consumers’.

Mr Faduri Oluwadamilare Joseph, who is 49 years old, also lamented that while other countries are focusing on developing Artificial Intelligence(AI) , Nigeria has been turned to a ‘rice country’ where rice is made available to the citizens anytime they face a period of economic unease.

He also said the old politicians have run out of ideas urging Nigerians to support the emergence of a young person as the nation’s leader.

 ‘We need a young man as our leader, a young man that is produced by the people and not one that is chosen by the godfathers’ he added.

The National Rescue Movement (NRM) presidential aspirant also said the 2027 presidential election is an opportunity for Nigerians to take a major decision that will either change things for the better in the country or sustain the hopeless situation

He also said he will reverse all the policies of the current administration at the federal level which had made life unbearable for citizens since 2023.

Responding to a reporter’s question on the absence of a ‘political structure’ like the ones available in major political parties, Mr Faduri Oluwadamilare Joseph said he is on a mission to rescue the country while noting that Nigerians are the real structure and they are yearning for good governance and dividends of democracy.

Nigerians, he added, are ready to produce the leader they want irrespective of the person’s financial strength.

‘Hunger does not know political structure, poverty does not know political structure, those who are claiming to have political structures are only using such a thing to deceive the people.
