2018 Offa Dacoity: Gov Abdulrazaq Planning To Launch Campaign Of Calumny Against Saraki-Kwara PDP
Kwara State PDP on Wednesday alleged that there is a surreptitious plot by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to reignite campaign of calumny against Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki using the 2018 Offa robbery case which it called a sad incident.
‘We were reliably informed that following the successful rally held by Kwara PDP in Ilorin last weekend in which a mammoth crowd joined the party to demonstrate their rejection of the current administration in the state, the governor instructed government lawyers to quickly file criminal charges against Dr Saraki, a former Senate President and former governor of Kwara State in respect of the Offa robbery case.
Our party is aware that Governor Abdulrazaq had a while ago instructed that the eight-year-old Offa robbery case be revisited and used against Saraki but was advised against this and told that it will be an exercise in futility.
Now, after last week’s rally, he has insisted that the case must commence before Friday. This is a politically motivated plan to use the judiciary to settle political scores as it was done during the Buhari administration and we are very sure that just as the move failed eight years ago, it will collapse again like a pack of useless cards’ the state PDP submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its spokesman, Mr Olusegun Olusola Adewara on Wednesday.
The statement also asserted that Dr Bukola Saraki has been cleared of all blame in the investigation.
‘It will be recalled that in two separate reports, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) of the Federation, in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed U. E. had issued legal advice that there was no evidence directly or indirectly linking Dr Saraki to the Offa robbery. Also, based on the same reports by the federal DPP and the IGP Special Investigation Team, five men were put on trial by the police and the Kwara State government. They were convicted by the State High Court, and the verdict of the trial court was affirmed by the Court of Appeal. The case has since proceeded to the Supreme Court.
We in the PDP will want to alert the general public that there is indeed no legal, moral, factual, or decent basis for the action the governor of Kwara State is about to initiate, except that it is a devilish, desperate, and deranged plan to embarrass Dr Saraki. It is the desperate act of a politically drowning man clutching at straws to keep afloat’ the party submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
