Gov Abiodun To Ogun APC Aspirants: Make Consensus Arrangement Process Seamless, I’ll Refund Your Money
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Tuesday urged APC members in the state who are seeking party nominations to ensure a seamless consensus arrangement process while promising to refund the money paid for expression of interest and nomination forms by aspirants who do not eventually get nominated by the party.
That was not all, such category of party members will also according to him be considered for appointments and other roles in government.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Governor Abiodun said this during the strategic meeting held with House of Representatives and House of Assembly aspirants and party leaders from the 20 local governments in the state in Abeokuta.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Kayode Akinmade noted in a statement he issued on Tuesday that Abiodun added that while many party members are qualified to contest, only one candidate can emerge for each of the positions.
The governor, who assured party members that decisions will be taken through consultations with stakeholders at the local government level, added that he has no plans to impose candidates .
‘’The zoning arrangements across local governments will serve as a guiding framework to promote fairness, equity, and inclusion within the party.
I am not a dictator and I have no intention of imposing candidates’ he said.
Noting that contentious primaries often lead to bitterness, financial strain and internal divisions capable of weakening the party’s electoral chances, he added that ‘consensus arrangement’ will help to strengthen cohesion in the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
He further noted that aspirants who helped in promoting party supremacy had already been considered for government appointments which is a strategy to retain experienced members and discourage anti-party activities.
The governor also urged aspirants to remain patient, committed and loyal to the party.
‘I started contesting in 1993 and only became governor in 2019. If you don’t get it today, you may get it tomorrow’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
