Kwara: Repair Work Begins On Geri Alimi Underpass As Expert Blames Contractor For Allegedly Failing To ‘Damp proof’
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has directed that an immediate repair work be carried out at the Spilt Diamond Underpass in Gerin Alimi, Ilorin.
The Spilt Diamond Underpass which was built during the Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed administration and had N3.7 billion as its project cost, had developed cracks . It was inaugurated in May 2019.
Governor AbdulRazaq was made to announce the closure of the underpass having shown cracks a few months after it was delivered.
Kwara sate Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi had condemned what he called the shoddy work done by the contractor ,who was ordered to return to site.
Engineer Abdullahi Sule, who visited the underpass independently, had blamed the contractor for not making the project feature damp proof while there was also no stone base under the asphalt.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned the ministry of work had since begun repair work on the underpass which serves as an entry point for the people visiting the state.
