What Some Politicians Told President Tinubu About Clothes I Gifted Him In 2023-VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday narrated how some politicians in Borno State, who have access to President Bola Tinubu, had in 2023 warned him not to wear the clothes he gifted him alleging that he had planned to end his life through supernatural means.

The Vice President however noted that President Tinubu not only described the allegations as untrue but also deliberately wore the clothes in question for an entire week to prove that there was no cause for alarm.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Vice President made this disclosure in Abuja while giving his speech during the public presentation of ‘My Life of Duty and Allegiance, the autobiography of former Head of State, retired General Yakubu Gowon.

Shettima, who represented Tinubu at the event, noted that unlike what obtained in the past, there is distrust among leaders these days.

‘His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, narrated the story of the family of the Sultan sending gallons of fura every week to General Yakubu Gowon in Dodan Barracks, and because of the trust and confidence General Gowon was willingly receiving it without any suspicion.

But now the game is different. Suspicion smears our relationships, and it ought not to be. We are essentially one people tied to a common destiny.

When I came back from China, where I had represented him (President Tinubu) at the Belt and Road Initiative Conference, he said ‘Sit down. Your people came to me and said I should stop wearing those dresses you gave me. They said I must have been charmed, and that I am going to die and you will become the president.

Their story did not add up, because when you gave me those dresses, I was an aspirant. I wasn’t even the candidate. Neither were you the vice-presidential candidate.

For one week, to prove to them that you are not fetish, I  wore those dresses’.

These are some of the gimmicks that are taking place in power circles in Nigeria nowadays’ he said.

VP Shettima called Gowon a statesman whose legacy has stood in contrast to the divisions and mistrust currently affecting the country-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
