Accord Party Top Official Hospitalized After Wednesday Night Shooting In Osogbo, Police Say Investigation Underway

Chairman of Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government, Osun State, Hon Asimiyu Ajibola, has been hospitalized after being shot in the state capital on Wednesday night.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Hon Ajibola was shot by unknown gunmen in the MDS area of Osogbo on Wednesday night and he was said to have been rushed to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for medical attention.

The attack carried out by three men was said to be a motorcycle drive-by shooting.

Police said detectives are already investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting

Spokesman for the state police command, Mr Abiodun Ojelabi disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the incident occurred at about 9:50 pm on Wednesday night while noting that investigation is underway.

Head of the state police command, Mr Ibrahim Gotan, a Commissioner of Police, has according him ordered a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident.

‘A team of Police officers swiftly evacuated the victim to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment. Medical personnel have confirmed that Hon. Ajibola is in a stable condition and responding positively to treatment.

‎Simultaneously, other operational teams launched an aggressive pursuit of the fleeing suspects in an effort to apprehend them and bring them to justice. Preliminary investigation at the scene of the incident led to the recovery of exhibits which are currently being subjected to forensic analysis.

He (CP) has directed all relevant investigative units to deploy every available resource to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack, identify those responsible, and ensure prompt arrest and prosecution.

‎The state police command wishes to assure members of the public that no stone will be left unturned in the ongoing investigation.
