2027: Actor Kenneth Okonkwo Says He’ll Not Campaign For Atiku, Alleges Marginalization Of Southeast
A popular actor, who is also an ADC bigwig, Mr Kenneth Okonkwo has submitted that he may not campaign for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the upcoming 2027 presidential election because of the marginalization of the Southeast.
He added that he has found fault with the choice of former Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi as vice-presidential candidate of the party because this has made the Southeast fail to get required recognition.
Recall that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had won the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential nomination last month and Nigerians are looking forward to a presidential election rematch next year as it will be back-to-back contest between him and President Bola Tinubu.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Mr Kenneth Okonkwo reacted to the emergence of Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate via the statement he made available on X.com on Monday.
‘I heard from the social media that ADC has picked its vice presidential candidate from the South-South. If this is true, it is unfortunate, as this will continue the crude marginalisation of the Southeast.
This Geo-Political Zone has neither produced a President or Vice President since 1999. To deny the Southeast the opportunity to produce the President or Vice President in ADC in 2027 will amount to perpetuating the marginalization.
The ADC was founded by Ralphs Nwosu from the Southeast in 2005. He made the sacrifice to give up the party in 2025 for the coalition to usher in a better Nigeria. He couldn’t have made that sacrifice to marginalise his own people.
I did not join politics to assist in the further marginalisation of my own people. I am of the opinion that if we made a sacrifice to give up the National Chairman and the President, it will amount to unpardonable injustice to deny us the Vice President in 2027.
The only favour I asked Atiku Abubakar, who openly declared that he is the pathway to the presidency of the Southeast, is to show it by choosing someone from the Southeast to be his running mate.
If it is confirmed that he has chosen a candidate from the South-South, I wish him well. I am not favourably disposed to campaigning for any presidential ticket that does not have a person of Southeast origin as Presidential candidate or Vice presidential candidate in 2027’ he submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
