‘Progressive-minded’ Godswill Akpabio Says APC Is ‘My Natural Habitat’, Calls PDP ‘Wrong Party’
President of the Senate, Barrister Godswill Akpabio has called the PDP a ‘wrong party’ while noting that being a progressive-minded person, the APC is his natural habitat.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Barrister Akpabio said this during the inauguration of access roads to the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates in the Karsana District of Abuja on Friday.
The event was part of the activities held to mark the President Bola Tinubu administration’s third anniversary..
FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike had noted that Akpabio was an ‘uncommon performer’ while serving as governor of Akwa Ibom State but the Senate President in his speech however urged members of the APC National Working Committee to disregard the comment because it was a period that existed before the current ruling party came into existence.
‘Please ignore the comment made by the honourable minister that I was an uncommon performer in PDP. He is not talking about PDP of today.
A progressive-minded person like me should belong to a progressive family. And therefore, when APC came into being, I discovered that it is my group, that I was in the wrong party called PDP. So, I took my exit early and joined the progressives.
Shortly after that, you now know what happened to PDP. They are fragmented. So, I don’t know how you are going to put it together, but I recognize you as a national leader, national leader of the winning faction of PDP because you are doing well’ he said.
Earlier in his remarks, Akpabio had recalled what happened when Wike visited Akwa Ibom State during his governorship, noting that the FCT minister had toured one of the state’s underground drainage projects and remarked that he will ‘perform miracles’ if given the opportunity to govern Rivers State.
The Senate President added that Wike eventually lived up to this promise after becoming the governor of Rivers State.
Recall that as a member of PDP, Akpabio served as Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Commissioner for Lands and Housing in Akwa Ibom State between 2002 and 2006 and he was also the governor of the state in question from 2007 to 2015.
As a member of PDP and a senator, Akpabio left the party for APC in August 2018-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
