Rivers Politics: It’s ‘Humbling Defeat’ As Gov Fubara Returns To Wike’s Camp, Endorses Kingsley Chinda’s Candidacy

Rivers Politics: It’s ‘Humbling Defeat’ As Gov Fubara Returns To Wike’s Camp, Endorses Kingsley Chinda’s Candidacy

Although, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike had for months now butted heads and fought over the control of Rivers State politics, the governor disclosed on Wednesday that he has not only lost the battle but has also voluntarily released his independence.

. While Fubara had left PDP for APC and had shown interest in getting nominated by the party to enhance his re-election bid, Wike had however insisted that he will not get a second term and the governor eventually accepted defeat and backed out of the 2027 gubernatorial race in May this year.

. Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, who is currently the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, eventually emerged as Rivers State APC gubernatorial candidate through the support of Wike.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has accepted a humbling defeat, submitted during the groundbreaking and foundation-laying ceremony of the Rivien Medical Industry project in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government on Wednesday that he will give Hon Chinda ‘full support’.

He also declared that he has returned as Wike’s political godson while urging his loyalists to follow suit.

The governor also preached unity saying ‘the time of war is over’.

Recall that the rift between Wike and Fubara had not only ignited political tension in Rivers State but had also featured dramatic scenes that include suspension of all elected political office holders in the state including the governor between March 18, 2025 and September 18, 2025, and the initiation of impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy at two different times.

‘We have made peace in the state. And I am supporting our rainbow party, or rainbow coalition.

President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is our president, and he’s the one we are supporting. Oke Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting. And anybody who believes in me will support every candidate that is under the rainbow.

For those of you who are saying, ‘Fubara, let’s stay, we want to collect something before we run,’ there is nothing to collect.

I am already in the family. I’ve gone back to our family. So, please, wherever you are, give your total support to that coalition.

We need to move forward. The time of war is over; it’s time of peace. And this peace is taking us to another level. What you lose here, you’ll gain in another place. That is about life.

So, please, I want this to be made clear to everybody. Don’t go anywhere and say you are supporting Fubara, Fubara. No, no, no.

My position is this, and I’ve said it here clearly for everyone to hear. If you are not hearing well, use cotton wool or open your ear and let it enter well.

I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. I’ve done what I need to do. For now, we are moving forward’ Governor Fubara submitted on Wednesday-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
