Gov Adeleke Alleges Sabotage As Reflective Cracks On Newly Inaugurated LAMECO Flyover Raise Safety Concerns

Reflective cracks on LAMECO flyover, Osogbo have raised concerns over structural safety of the public infrastructure.

Recall that the Lameco Flyover, Osogbo was inaugurated on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and it was an event that was attended by top government officials and traditional rulers including the Ataoja of Osogbo , Oba Jimoh Olanipekun.

Giving his speech, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who also oversees the Ministry of Works, asserted that quality job was done.

‘We executed this and other mega projects in accordance with due process, transparency and without mortgaging the future of our children. 

The high quality of this flyover confirms the workability of our local content model. We have proven to the whole world that our local engineers can perform to world-class standards’ he submitted.

After the reflective cracks were seen on the flyover on Friday, members of Amotekun Corps prevented all public access and vehicle movement. 

Also, in a viral video, AAC gubernatorial candidate, Mr Olajide Esan, who was there  to take a video of the reflective cracks, was disallowed from doing so and he had altercations with the Amotekun Corps officers.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has however alleged sabotage while submitting that the Lagere flyover, Ile-Ife has also experienced the same thing.

He berated politicians for allegedly sponsoring vandalisation of public infrastructure which is according to him condemnable.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted that his principal made an inspection visit to the flyover on Friday evening during which he took briefings from Ministry of Works and Infrastructure’s engineers and expressed sadness that some politicians can allegedly sabotage a public infrastructure in their quest to blackmail the government.

‘This is no longer politics. Election is about the people voting for the leaders of their choice. Our job as politicians is to market our plans and records. Why would any genuine politician arrange to destroy a beautiful edifice like the Lameco bridge because of an election? That conduct is a hate crime against the people of Osun State.

It is so immoral that Osun APC is not even ashamed of its masterminding such a sabotage. I call on politicians to play the politics of development. These infrastructures were built with public funds. Why should we endanger the lives of our people and waste public resources simply because of elections?’ the governor submitted.

Governor Adeleke, who commended the engineers for their prompt action, further directed immediate surveillance on all major public infrastructures in the state.

‘I hereby direct immediate surveillance and monitoring of key infrastructures. We must secure public assets in the best interest of the state and the residents’ he added.
