World’s youngest reigning monarch, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, is dead.
King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom, Uganda, who formally ascended the throne in 2010, died at 34.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Prime Minister of Tooro kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki announced Oyo’s death on Friday. He noted that the monarch died on Thursday.
‘I call upon all the people of Tooro to remain united, calm and prayerful during this profoundly difficult time.
May His Majesty the King rest in eternal peace’ Calvin said.
Oyo became the king in 1995 at the age of three following the death of his father, King Patrick Matthew Kaboyo Rukidi III.
Because of his age, a regency was established, with the queen mother among those overseeing the kingdom until Oyo became an adult.
He was formally crowned in 2010 at the age of 18.
Guinness World Records listed Oyo as the world’s youngest reigning monarch, a distinction he held after inheriting the throne as a toddler.
