I Will Restore Fuel Subsidy But Make Implementation Corruption-Free-Peter Obi
NDC Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi has promised to restore ‘petrol subsidy’ if elected president next year.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the former Anambra State governor, who said this during an interview with the BBC on Tuesday, however added that he will ensure that its implementation is corruption-free.
‘From day one, I’ve talked about subsidy. I talked about corruption; corruption is the problem of subsidy’ he said.
Asked pointedly if he would restore petrol subsidy if elected president, he responded in the affirmative.
‘Yes. But remember, I have qualified it, not with the corruption that’s associated with it. I’ll remove the corruption and retain the subsidy. If you are not stealing, if you are not involved, and if your wife and family are not involved, you reduce it by 50 per cent’ he added.
Commenting on the ongoing coalition talks, he said opposition parties can work together without anyone withdrawing from the race.
‘We don’t need to step down. We need to do the right thing’ he said.
Mr Peter Obi also promised hands-on governance noting that although late President Muhammadu Buhari stood against corruption he was not however in charge.
‘Nigerians should not decide with that. He was not in charge. The difference is that I’ll be in charge’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
