Man Who Posed As Lawyer For 11 Years Arrested In Ebonyi

Ugwumba Enyinnaya, who had falsely claimed to be a lawyer and had acted on behalf of people that had cases in court for 11 years, has been arrested and taken into custody by the police in Ebonyi State.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that spokesman for the state police command, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, submitting that the arrest was sequel to an investigation into a petition alleging that the suspect obtained money by false pretense.

He allegedly collected ₦650,000 from one Chukwu David in March 2026 to facilitate the processing and approval of a street naming in Ohaozara Local Government, Ebonyi State.

The petitioner alleged that Enyinnaya had presented himself as a lawyer with years of legal experience and it was later discovered by the police that he had been parading himself as a legal practitioner despite not being a lawyer.

‘A  search of his apartment led to the recovery of several exhibits, including a Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) seal; a portrait of the suspect dressed in barrister’s regalia; purported Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree certificates for the suspect bearing the name of Enugu State University of Science and Technology; a barrister’s robe and wig; judgements allegedly procured from the court and various legal documents allegedly prepared by him, including powers of attorney and deeds of conveyance’ the statement said.

The police said charges will be preferred against the fake lawyer while head of the state police command, Mr Hope Okafor,  a Commissioner of Police, commended the cops for uncovering and exposing Enyinnaya and urged members of the public to verify the credentials of people offering legal services.Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
