2027 General Election: Court Sacks David Mark-Led ADC Leadership, Nullifies Atiku Abubakar’s Candidacy
Barely two months to the presidential and national assembly elections, a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday stoked tension by nullifying all the processes that led to the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as ADC presidential candidate ditto other candidates of the party.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Justice Peter Lifu in his ruling faulted the emergence of the former Senate President, Chief David Mark as National Chairman of the party and other members of the National Working Committee.
He declared the party’s current caretaker committee illegal and voided all the decisions it had implemented.
He also invalidated the processes that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as ADC presidential candidate, alongside his running mate, former Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi. Furthermore, the court canceled the nominations of all other ADC candidates vying for legislative and executive offices nationwide, ruling that their mandates emerged from an illegitimate party leadership.
Justice Peter Lifu ruled that following the resignation of former National Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu from his position as National Chairman, the plaintiff, Nafiu Bala Gombe, who was the National Deputy Chairman (North-East), ought to have taken over as National Chairman of the party and therefore declared him authentic leader of the ADC.
Reacting to the court ruling, Nkemakolam Ukandu, the National Welfare Secretary of the ADC, said the verdict would be challenged at the appellate court-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
