Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state has approved the release of sixty million naira to the Kebbi state United Football Club to facilitate its promotion to the Premier League.
The State Chairman of NFF, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Monday noted that this was done to enable the club run its activities successfully for the 2022/2023 football season and ultimately gain promotion to the premier league in the next season.
The statement further noted that this was part of the efforts of the Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu administration with regard to sustaining youth empowerment and promoting sporting activities in the state.
In another development, the Governor has also approved one hundred and forty three million, five hundred thousand Naira (N143,500,000.00) for the 2022/2023 activities and programmes of the Kebbi state United Football Academy.
The governor has ordered that the money should be used to cater for Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, Under 19 and under 23 sets of the Academy, in collaboration with the Break Management Agency of Portugal, which had gotten the go-ahead from the State Government to serve as management consultant.
The academy, which was established in 2021 will start promotion of players that are indigenes of Kebbi state to play in both international and national leagues for their personal development and in order that the state can also generate revenue.
The statement noted that within one year, twelve (12) players of Kebbi United and the Academy had been invited for trials in Europe and Middle East and their results were being awaited.
