Ilorin West/Asa PDP House of Representatives candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, has announced a monthly support of N500, 000 for the women street sweepers that were laid off by the current administration in the state three years ago.
It will be recalled that the affected women were recruited as street sweepers during the Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki administration precisely during his first term as governor of Kwara state.
The PDP reps candidate made this disclosure during his visit to the laid-off street sweepers in Alore , Ilorin , Kwara state on Monday and he later made five hundred thousand naira available to them for the month of November.
The visit, he noted, was meant to show empathy, solidarity with them and offer hope for the suffering women who were disengaged from their regular paid job of sweeping the main roads in Ilorin metropolitan areas during the PDP administration.
‘ I am here today to sympathize with our mothers who have suffered for this state, many of them were laid off from their government paid job and have been going through pains and agony.
I am here to assure them that their pains will soon be over’ he said.
Ajia also promised that things will change for the better once the PDP takes over government next year.
‘ When PDP takes over Nigeria, Kwara and all levels of government , they will continue to enjoy those things they used to get when PDP was in power.
I sympathize with them on the current situation in Nigeria as we have recorded rising food prices , making situations worse for many households.
I sympathize with them as they go through pains with regard to sending their children to school.
I have encouraged them not to lose hope, and I also assured them that the government that cares for the people is about to emerge.
Their role is to pray and vote for us. I also admonished them to be patient, steadfast and resolute in whatever they believe in’ he said.
Some among the women, who expressed gratitude to Alhaji Ajia, lamented that things are getting worse day by day under the APC-controlled government in the state.
‘We enjoyed so much during Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed administrations.
We were usually paid N6, 000 and through our savings; we did a lot of things and catered for our families.
But now, noting is moving well again’ Umar Bilikis, who is one of the sacked street sweepers, told Team@orientactualmags.com .
The House of Reps candidate was later taken to a historic location in the community to receive blessings and prayers, Alhaji Shehu Alfaagba Alore, who presided over the prayer session, prayed Allah to grant Alhaji Ajia his heart desires.

The chairman of the Constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Majo, appreciated the reps candidate for doing the party proud.
One of those who gave speeches, Mr Lukman Saad said lack of empowerment had been the major challenge confronting young people in the area while noting that they have mobilized young people and made more people to join the party, they will however need someone that will be representing them . He also emphasized the need for Ajia to visit them regularly.
In his submission, Hon Ataragba, who is the group’s chairman, Committee on Media, urged Alhaji Ajia to prioritize local government autonomy if he gets elected as reps member while calling for creation of more local governments in the state .
Similarly, the Chairman Committee on Empowerment. Professor Saka Salman said they had looked forward to having an opportunity to interface with Ajia while urging him to consider them in respect of his proposed empowerment scheme.
Responding, Alhaji Ajia, said his visit was to appreciate the young people and women, who had encouraged him to throw his hat in the ring.
Alhaji Ajia explained that party assignments at the national level had made him spend days outside the state and therefore made him not to visit the secretariat regularly.
‘If you look at what is happening in Nigeria today, PDP youths can liberate the state and the country at large.
Party members should understand that they are the candidates, and should therefore put in more efforts for the party to win in the upcoming elections.
What remains is the polling units exercise and harmonization, put in all efforts at this time to deliver all the candidates of our party.
You should improve your efforts at polling units; you should form stakeholders not less than 10 people and give them the task to secure a total number of supporters in each polling unit.
If Atiku wins in Kwara; we will have a say, based on the cordial relationship between Atiku and Saraki’ he said.
Alhaji Ajia also visited Alanamu youth constituency of the PDP which comprises Alanamu, Ubandawaki and Adewole wards and they came out in large numbers to show support for the reps candidate and the party .
