Gov Adeleke Carries Out Pre-Inauguration Threats …Igbajo, Ikirun, Iree Monarchs Told To Leave Respective Palaces, OSIEC Members Suspended

Gov Adeleke Carries Out Pre-Inauguration Threats …Igbajo, Ikirun, Iree Monarchs Told To Leave Respective Palaces, OSIEC Members Suspended

Governor Ademola Adeleke began his first day in office on Monday with actions that made it clear that all  he had  said in  his pre-Inauguration Day  press statements were not  empty threats after all.

The new ruling party;  PDP and the then Governor-elect had not only threatened to sack the chairmen and the councilors produced through an uncontested election but had also promised to review what was called last- minute appointments by former governor Gboyega Oyetola.

It will be recalled that Mr. Segun Oladitan ,  who  was until his suspension on Monday,  the Chairman of Osun state Independent Electoral Commission,  OSSIEC,  had on August 15, 2022 announced October 15, 2022 as local government elections date.

It will also  be recalled that  the Chairman of Osun state PDP, Dr Akindele Adekunle had    urged the Gboyega Oyetola administration  not to  go ahead with the planned  local government elections while submitting that   those it referred to as ‘illegally elected officials’ would  not last beyond November 27.

It will equally be recalled that Justice Ayo-Nathaniel Emmanuel  of the Federal High Court ,  Osogbo,  had on Friday  declared   the local government elections conducted by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC)  on October 15, 2022 as illegal, null and void, adding that it was not conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act of 2022.

The court had further ordered the local  government chairmen and councilors  that were declared as winners of the local government elections in question to vacate the respective local government secretariats and offices with  immediate effect.

The governor on Monday announced the suspension of  chairman and members of  the OSSIEC.

He cited petitions bordering on financial impropriety, dereliction of duty, absenteeism and abuse of office.

‘The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has directed the immediate suspension of the Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Mr. Segun Oladitan and the following members of the Commission;

I. Mr. Rufus Oyeniran

II. Alhaja Suibat Adubi

III. Prince Yinka Ajiboye

IV. Mrs. Abosede Omibeku

V. Mr. Dosu Gidigbi

VI. Mr. Wahab Adewoyin

This suspension is sequel to several petitions bordering on financial impropriety, dereliction of duty, absenteeism and abuse of office against the said Chairman and members of the Commission.

Pending the outcome of investigation into the allegations against the suspended Chairman and members of the Commission, the Secretary to the Commission shall hold forth in running the affairs of the Commission’  the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaiye, submitted in a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com.

In separate statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com by  his  spokesman, Mr Olawale Rasheed,  the governor  has also   come up with six executive orders that had since left the appointment of new Aree of Iree ,  new Owa of Igbajo  and the new Akirun of Ikirun hanging in the balance.

They have been ordered to vacate their respective palaces.

The affected Igbajo monarch was until his becoming  a traditional ruler last week , the Chairman of Osun state APC.
