Ahead of the 2023 General Election, Awka North/Awka South Young Progressive Party (YPP) House of Representatives candidate, Hon Kingsley Uyammadu, has promised to ensure that things change for the better in respect of infrastructure projects in the federal constituency if elected as reps member next year.
Uyammadu’s media office in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the upwardly mobile politician said this while talking to journalists in Awka at the weekend.
The YPP reps candidate said political instability and inconsistency in policy-making, among others had hindered Nigeria from being Africa’s most attractive investment location.
Uyammadu also pledged to ensure the establishment of vocational institutions in the two local governments in the federal constituency as well as establishment of a Trade Zone at Awba-Ofemili, Awka North LGA, with a view to breeding ‘a crop of job creators and employers of labour’ .
‘I am the only reps candidate from Awka North. Awka South has four candidates from four different political parties. Again, my constituents are lagging behind when it comes to infrastructure projects and other things. I am the only candidate that can correct the situation. After my inauguration, I will visit the presidency, and consult with other National Assembly members to make our policies reliable for investors to come to our constituency.
I will take necessary steps to make the federal government establish a free trade zone at Awba-Ofemili, Awka North LGA. Awka is a town with an arable land. Awka North is supposed to become the Food Basket of the Nation. I will make it happen once Government establishes a free trade zone. I will also set up vocational institutions in the two local governments so that we can easily build our people’s capacities to become employers of labour.
As a legislator, my main focus will be to create the enabling environment needed to boost sales and production in Awka North and Awka South. I will make renewable energy a priority so that the funds hitherto wasted on the alternative power supply can be reinvested in growing businesses.
This will make Awka North and Awka South a Free Trade Zone. Local production of goods, especially food will be greatly encouraged as we build our business from within. We will ensure a favourable competitive strength for our manufacturers’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com
