Osun state APC has condemned the alleged attack on Engineer Remi Omowaiye by suspected political thugs in Ilesha.
APC had since pointed the finger at the state PDP alleging that thugs sponsored by the party in Ilesa-West Local Government were responsible for the attack.
The party claimed that Omowaiye and his supporters were attacked by the PDP thugs at the popular Isida Motor Spare Parts Market in Ilesa on Friday submitting that this was done in a premeditated and coordinated manner.
Omowaiye was until last month the Osun state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure.
APC noted that the former commissioner was at the market to felicitate the market men and women , wish them merry Christmas and donate bags of rice and cow to them when gunshot sounds were heard and everyone scampered for safety.
It was alleged that the thugs shot directly at the Toyota Highlander SUV belonging to Omowaiye while another vehicle was vandalized and pelted with stones.
The PDP thugs were allegedly led by Bayo Falade alias ‘Landlord’, Rotimi Ojo alias ‘Rotimi Abu’, Basit Alli alias ‘Basty’, Tope Ilelowowa, Nurudeen Alowonle, Emeka Chukwujindu, Kola Gbakue, Suyi Orimogunje a.k.a. ‘Suggestion’ and Sunmi Fajemirokun a.k.a. ‘Big Sam’.
Ward 3, Ilesa-West APC Youth Leader, Opeyemi Oke, Tosin Adanlawo, Mr Odekunle, Ojo Agboola and Junior Olaojaoke were said to have sustained injuries.
Omowaiye, who has confirmed the incident, said the APC members, who were injured during the attack, were rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
The former commissioner disclosed that the incident had since been reported at Ayeso Police Station, Ilesa, while urging the security agencies to investigate the incident with a view to bringing the culprits and their masterminds who he claimed are known faces in the community to book.
The state APC in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its Acting Chairman , Sooko Tajudeen Lawal said the incident was barbaric, cruel and condemnable.
Lawal asked the state commissioner of police and other security agencies in the state to rise up to the responsibility of ensuring the safety of lives and property of the people irrespective of their political leanings.
The acting APC chairman explained further that it was appalling, worrisome and disturbing that the state had not allegedly known peace since former Senator Ademola Adeleke came on board and took office as governor less than one month ago.
Lawal emphasized the need for the security agencies to perform their statutory duties without fear or favour in the overall interest of the Osun state people while reminding the ruling PDP that it does not have monopoly of violence-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
