Gov Abdulrazaq, Gov Bagudu, Saraki, Adagunodo, Yaman Release Christmas Messages
As Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ today, 25 December 2022, political bigwigs in Nigeria have released Christmas messages wherein they congratulated Christians in the country and wished them Merry Christmas.
With the 2023 general election just a few days away, they also used the opportunity to advise Nigerians on factors to consider before making a decision in respect of who to vote for.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state while felicitating Christians in the State of Harmony and across the world on the occasion of the Christmas celebration, also called it a unique moment to celebrate and reflect upon God’s mercies and the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a statement on the eve of the Christmas celebration, the Governor commended the Christian community for being great partners of his administration in the development of Kwara state.
‘On behalf of the people and government of Kwara State, I join the Christian community to share in the happiness of the moment.
I wish every family a joyous and safe celebration of the reason for this season’ the governor submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye..
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, CON , who is the Chairman of APC Progressives Governors’ Forum, has also urged Nigerians to continue to accord top priority to peaceful coexistence.
Bagudu in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki emphasized the need for all Nigerians to always be their brother’s keepers, irrespective of religious, ethnic and political leanings.
Bagudu also called this festive period a time for reflections on the sterling messages of the Yuletide, with a view to using them to make Nigeria better.
Such resounding messages, he noted, entail the spirit of giving by way of reaching out to the less- privileged in the country while calling Christmas celebration an auspicious time to offer fervent prayers for sustainable peace, unity and socioeconomic prosperity of Nigeria.
He further asked Nigerians to pray for restoration of security across the nation and the successful conduct of the 2023 general election.
Bagudu pledged his administration’s commitment to continuing to focus on interfaith harmony while wishing all Christians Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki has also sent a message of congratulations to Nigerians submitting that the country will eventually be lifted out of its current challenges while urging the citizens to remain optimistic about ‘the future of our nation’.
‘As we celebrate today, let us remember that despite our religious differences, we are all united through a shared heritage and culture, and it is this connection that binds us together.
This is why today we must recommit ourselves to embracing peace and coming together to create a stronger and more prosperous nation.
Let us take this time to be thankful for all that we have been blessed with and to remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
I urge us all to keep the faith that, despite the current circumstances, Nigeria will eventually be lifted out of its current challenges. We must remain optimistic about the future of our nation.
I pray that this festive season is one of peace and harmony across our beloved country. May it be a time of joy, love, and giving, and may it bring us closer together as a nation.
On behalf of myself and my family, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas! he submitted.
Kwara state PDP gubernatorial candidate , Alhaji Shuaib Yaman Abdullahi has also felicitated the Christian community in the state and all over the world on the birth anniversary of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his media aide, Mustapha Abdullahi urged Christians across the world to be guided by the lessons of the Christmas season, which is built on love, forgiveness, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence for the sake of growth and development.
‘ I wish the entire Kwarans and Nigerians across the globe, specifically the Christian community God’s guidance and abundant blessings as they celebrate the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ.
Christmas means a spirit of love, a time when the love of God and the love of our fellow men should prevail over all hatred and bitterness, a time when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest the presence of God.
Christmas is not all about merry-making. We must also spare time to reflect on the essence of this period which is the love of God for humanity’ he said.
Yaman also noted that at a time like this when ‘our country is facing multifaceted problems and challenges of bad leadership, corruption and bad governance among other interrelated variables that had impeded her growth, we need to be steadfast in prayers and fasting and make our differences become what will enhance national integration and prosperity’.
‘As 2023 General Election draws closer, I use this special occasion to beseech the Almighty God to make Nigeria overcome her current challenges and grant us peaceful, successful, fair, and credible elections in the coming months.
As we celebrate, we should continue to embrace peace, as it is the noblest of all human endeavours. It is by appreciating the need for peaceful and harmonious coexistence that we can then tackle the problems and overcome the trials and challenges in Kwara and Nigeria as a whole’ the statement added.
PDP National Vice Chairman, South West, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo has also felicitated Christians and all Nigerians as they celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
Adagunodo in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com urged all Christian faithful and Nigerians to see this season as a time to be more dedicated to God, adding that ‘there is a lot for us to be thankful for, having survived another year under the worst administration in the history of civil rules in our dear country’.
The statement recounted cases of kidnapping, ransom taking, unnecessary fuel pump price increase, forex disparity against the Naira, and fluctuating prices of commodities that have crippled people’s means of livelihood coupled with epileptic power supply, incessant and unresolved ASUU strikes that had deliberately appeared like a programmed attempt to cripple the education sector of the country.
He noted that it takes the grace of God and His infinite mercy to survive the challenging situation in Nigeria while hailing Nigerians for being resilient and warning against voting people ‘who are not in touch with current realities into power’.
Adagunodo noted that insecurity, inflation, poverty, and economic woes respect no political affiliation and that Nigerians know the people and the party that had promised heaven and earth but instead brought hardships to the citizens.
He urged Nigerians to keep hope alive beyond the festivities and actively participate in the struggle to reposition the country by supporting and voting for the PDP next year- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
