Magaji Olawoyin, Top Kwara Lawmaker, Dies In Ilorin

Family members, colleagues, friends and supporters spoke in sepulchral tones and had mournful facial expressions as news of the passing of Hon Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin spread on Monday morning.

Olawoyin, who had been down with an illness, was until his death on Monday morning, a prominent member of the ruling APC in Kwara state and a state lawmaker.

The deceased politician was not an ordinary member of the Kwara state House of Assembly- he was the House Leader.

 Magaji, who was until his death on Monday morning, the representative of Ilorin Central, was also seeking to retain his parliament seat this year being one of the members of the House of Assembly that got nominated by the APC for the House of Assembly election scheduled to hold in March this year.

Olawoyin , who was born in 1966, possibly had a premonition that he was about to die as he was said to have told supporters who visited him on Sunday night that he will not be leading the campaign trail but rather urged them to do this on his behalf informing them of his plans to travel.

While he may be contemplating going abroad for medical attention, it could also have been an indirect way of saying he was leaving for the great beyond.

A few hours later, precisely on Monday morning, his health deteriorated and as he was being taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin , Olawayin gave up the ghost.
