Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state has restated the commitment of his administration to adequate funding of both western and Islamic education in the state.
Bagudu’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com that the governor, who is the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, said this on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi during the closing ceremony of the two-day national preaching session organized by the Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatus-Sunnah (JIBWIS).
He noted that it is the constitutional responsibility of government at all levels to provide the direly needed dividends of democracy to the electorate.
Bagudu said some of these responsibilities include provision of quality western and Islamic education as well as promotion of the religion of Islam..
He noted that the APC, President Muhammadu Buhari and himself hold JIBWIS, the Council of Ulama and other religious groups in the country in high esteem.
The governor added that this stood as reason why the state government had donated N15 million to ensure the successful hosting of the special preaching session organized by the Izala.
He disclosed that the State Government had integrated western and Islamic education in 3,543 Islamiyya schools, with no fewer than 15,401 registered facilitators.
Bagudu added that Kebbi State government was honoured to have been given the hosting right of the national preaching session.
He commended the leadership of JIBWIS and other religious groups for their sustained fervent prayers for peace, unity and socioeconomic prosperity of Nigeria.
The governor also made the request of Deaf Muslims Association of Nigeria to get carried along in respect of the activities of the movement and the use of interpreters during preaching sessions of the Izala movement known to the JIBWIS leaders.
The National Chairman of Jamaatu Izalatu Bidiah Waikamatus Sunnah, JIBWIS , Sheik Abdullahi Bala Lau thanked all Muslims from within and outside Nigeria for attending the two -day national preaching session while calling on the participants and the Muslim Ummah who had the opportunity to listen to the sermons delivered by Islamic scholars to imbibe and put them into practice
‘Let Qur’an be our guiding principle and the path to follow as our salvation’ ‘he said.
The Islamic scholar further appealed to politicians and their followers not to engage in bitter politics and politics of hatred against one another but rather pray for sustenance of peace, unity and security in Nigeria.
