3 Kidnappers Killed,  9 Arrested In Kwara As CP Odama Confirms Safe Return Of Vonapolouis Moss

Kwara state Police Chief, Mr Paul Odama on Monday confirmed safe return of Vonapolouis Mos, a citizen of the United States of America, who was tricked into visiting Nigeria by 23- year- old Awoleye Joshua Oluwatofunmi, a few days ago.

  Mr. Paul Odama, who   disclosed this during the press conference he presided over at the state police headquarters, Ilorin , which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com , also added that three people have also been killed while nine others were arrested during gun duels with kidnappers at different locations in the state capital.

Vonapolouis Mos has according to him returned to the United States and had since reunited with her family.

‘On the 22/1/2023 at about 0900HRS an intelligence available to the Divisional Police Officer, Bode Sadu to the effect that suspected kidnappers were seen in the bush in Balogun area, Bode Sadu  preparing  to strike. The DPO Mobilized Vigilantees, hunters and policemen, entered the bush and engaged the kidnappers and during exchange of gunfire, three of the kidnappers were neutralized while two suspects; ;Lagi Bala “M” and Iliasu Idris “M” were arrested with 3 locally- made guns.

The arrested suspects confessed to being kidnappers and cattle rustlers. They also confessed to being responsible for the series of kidnapping cases in Malete and Shao area of Kwara state. The names of the neutralized members of the gang are 

(1) Bala Idris ”M”

(2) Hassan Idris “M”

(3) Baso Idris “M”

Investigation is ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the kidnapping gang, while the two arrested suspects would be  taken to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

 Similarly, on 21/1/2023 at about 1400HRS, the Divisional Police Officer of Eiyenkorin Division, along with vigilante and local hunters in carrying out the directive of the commissioner of police with regard to zero- tolerance for kidnapping, they entered the bush in  Eyenkorin to search for  the hide-outs of kidnappers. In the gun duel  with the suspected kidnappers seen in the bush, some suspects escaped with gunshot wounds while some were arrested.

At about 1600HRS of 21/01/2023, an information was received that one suspected Fulani man was seen with gunshot wounds in the bush within Eyenkorin, policemen traced and arrested the suspect, and  during interrogation he confessed to being a member of a kidnapping syndicate that specializes in kidnapping people around eyenkorin oko-olowo axis. He mentioned one Alhaji Anta now at large as the leader of the gang, other suspects arrested includes (1) Buga Ali “M” (2) Suleiman Issah ‘m’ age 20yrs (3) Aminu Bello ‘m’ (4) Suleman Biliyah ‘m’ age 21yrs (5) Yahaha Adam ‘m’ age: 20yrs they will all be  taken to court as soon as investigation is over.

3. In another successful operation based on an actionable intelligence that some suspected kidnappers who were believed to be responsible for kidnapping around the axis were seen,

The police quickly mobilized vigilante and local hunters and headed to the area. Two of the kidnappers by name (1)Yau Alhaji anta (2) Idris Alhaji Auta were arrested. The suspects confessed to being responsible for the kidnap of the two kidnapped victims in Oluwalose community, oko-olowo, one Alhaji Tunde Buhari and one Muhammed Mecho. When brought together, the victim identified one of the suspects as one of his abductors.

The suspects would soon be taken to court after investigation’ he said.

The Kwara state police chief also said Yusuf Arowolo and  Issah Shuaib were also arrested and taken into custody  for stealing motorcycles at  two separate locations in Ilorin.

‘On 22/01/2023 at about 0800HRS, one Babatunde Waheed “M”, parked his BAJAJ motorcycle with REG. No. SMK 473 QJ Valued at N500,000 at Kulende market zango area Ilorin. On his way back he discovered that his motorcycle has been stolen . Concerted efforts by the police led to the arrest and recovery of the stolen motorcycle. Suspect would soon be taken to court.

In another case of theft, on 20/01/2023, one Emmanual Joshua “M” of Ajelanwa phase one Zango Ilorin parked his TVS Motorcycle with Reg. NO. AFN 752 VD worth N700,000.00 in his house at aforementioned address, one Issah Shuaib ‘M’ at about 0400HRS of 21/01/2023 destroyed the  window  bars  to gain access to the complainant’s house and  took  away the said motorcycle. The said motorcycle was tracked and traced to the suspect at Oke-Ose by the police where he has dismantled it.
