ABMPF Honours Gov Nasir Idris With Leadership And Excellence Award

Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has been honoured with the prestigious Leadership and Excellence Award by the Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners’ Forum (ABMPF).

The governor was among several distinguished personalities recognized by the forum during the closing ceremony of its Media and Security Summit in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the summit was organized by the forum in active collaboration with the Kebbi State Government.

Dr. Nasir Idris, who was represented at the event by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, was described as a leader, who is deeply committed to strengthening the media landscape in Kebbi State.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the forum, Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, Ajiyan Yauri, explained that the Leadership and Excellence Award was reserved for exceptional Northern governors who have demonstrated outstanding performance and support for media development.

The forum, he noted, will continue to thank Governor Idris for his unwavering encouragement and support for the media, as well as his remarkable efforts in setting the pace for media excellence in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Governor Nasir Idris thanked the forum for the honour, saying the recognition would further motivate him to redouble his efforts in advancing the development of Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.

The governor noted that he holds the award in high esteem and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a continued partnership with the forum and other media-related organizations to strengthen journalism and promote professionalism across the country.

He emphasized that no amount of moral or financial support for the media is too much, given its critical role in promoting peace, unity, and stability.

Governor Idris restated his administration’s determination and commitment to providing an enabling environment for all journalists in the state to perform their duties effectively.

He described the recently concluded summit as timely and relevant, saying it provided a platform for scholars and stakeholders to deliberate on strategies to improve the security and welfare of people in the North and Nigeria as a whole.

The governor further pledged to sustain productive collaborations aimed at ensuring a safer and more prosperous Kebbi State and Nigeria, while urging the media to continue fostering unity and national cohesion.

‘Whatever you do, do it to unite Nigeria and not to divide it’ he said.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, retired General Muhammadu Magoro, who also received the Gamji Award, commended the forum for the recognition and assured that the honour would spur them to further contribute to the socio-economic development of Kebbi State and the nation as a whole.

He acknowledged the vital role of the media in society and urged practitioners to remain professional, objective, and patriotic in their reportage.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of posthumous awards to the families of late broadcast media practitioners in recognition of their contributions to the growth of the broadcast industry in the North and Nigeria as a whole-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
