ADC Reacts To Detention Of Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Says EFCC Has Become Instrument Of Oppression

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday reacted to the detention of Senator Aminu Tambuwal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) while also accusing the anti-graft agency of becoming instrument of oppression.

 Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the party’s interim National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who made the allegations in a statement he issued on Tuesday, also accused the EFCC of embarking on ‘a choreographed media trial’ with opposition leaders as targets.

He said the detention of Aminu Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State, and the ‘urgent’ request for information by the EFCC in respect of Emeka Ihedioha administration in Imo State are instances that showed politically motivated actions.

Recall that Ihedioha spent seven months in office as governor of Imo State.

‘ADC, like all Nigerians, questions the curious timing, selective targets, and political motivations that now seem to define the EFCC’s actions.

A fight against corruption that begins and ends with the opposition is not justice — it is persecution. We have no doubts that this is witch-hunting; it is the APC government weaponizing anti-corruption to do its political battle.

 Once a former governor crosses over to the ruling party, their files vanish like morning dew.

Yet opposition leaders are hounded with allegations from decades past without a shred of new evidence’ the party submitted while calling for a joint action to rectify the situation.
