The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations ended on a good note for the host country, Ivory Coast, on Sunday.
The country has won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and this is the third time its national football team would be lifting the trophy.
For obvious reasons, many had not given much for Ivory Coast’s chances, it had qualified from the group as the fourth of four best third-place sides and also sacked its coach ,Jean-Louis Gasset in the course of the tournament .
Ivory Coast eventually won 2-1 against Nigeria on Sunday courtesy of goals from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller.

82-year-old president of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara , was at the sky box of the 60,000-capacity stadium alongside his wife, Mrs. Ouattara and they later posed for a group picture with the players before the trophy presentation.

‘Our team had a fantastic tournament but today Ivory Coast was better, our team didn’t show our level. That’s the truth. It was not the same job as we did in the previous rounds’ Coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro submitted on Sunday.
In the meanwhile, William Troost-Ekong, a member of the Super Eagles was among the players that received AFCON 2023 Awards on Sunday, the chap, who has a disarming smile, won the ‘Man of The Competition’ Award.
