Again, Former Senator Sulaiman Ajadi Makes The News

Former senator Sulaiman Makanjuola Ajadi has a calm mien and he is an easy-going person.

Ajadi, an indigene of Babanloma, Ifelodun local government,  had for years now become a force to be reckoned with in Kwara state when it comes to politicking.

He had become popular sequel to his appointment as Commissioner for Finance during the military era, the former senator had however  gotten appointed as commissioner by sheer luck.

Former Inspector General of Police, late Chief Sunday Adewusi  had been asked to nominate a commissioner and his wife, an indigene of Babaloma , had according to a source had  Dr Alabi as her candidate for the commissionership job , he however unfortunately died before his appointment could be announced.

Adewusi insisted that the slot had been reserved for Babanloma and  that a new person from the town should be nominated and Ajadi , who was then a lecturer at the Kwara state polytechnic ,   was consequently appointed as commissioner.

Ajadi served as Commissioner for Finance, Kwara state between January 1994 and October 1995.

He later ventured into politics and gotten nominated  as  Kwara South APP  senate candidate  in 1999.

The former senator had since 1999 done things that had put him in the limelight at different times

Ajadi got into the bad books of the then  Governor Mohammed Lawal in his early days in power.

The late Admiral Lawal had accused him (Ajadi) of  seeking to become the state governor and he had  earned the support of late Dr. Sola Saraki to clip Ajadi’s wings . The second republic Senate Leader was then  their political godfather ,

As fate would have it, the political romance between Lawal and Dr. Saraki was short-lived, Ajadi therefore found it convenient to stay in the same camp with the estranged political son rather than Dr. Saraki.

Ajadi had sought to retain his parliament seat  in 2003 and he was the ANPP  candidate, he was though declared winner of the election but however had his victory upturned at the election petition tribunal ,ditto the Federal Court of Appeal.

The former senator was the Action Congress gubernatorial candidate in the 2007 governorship election , he later left the party for the PDP but it was a short-stay affair.

He had ahead of the 2011 guber election left AC and joined the PDP  in solidarity with his kinsman ;Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who had then emerged as the party’s guber candidate.

Ajadi later left the party but returned four  years later and served as Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s  Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters.

Ajadi, who ahead of the  2023 general election had joined the Kwara South senate race and was an APC aspirant ,  had later left the party for  the ADC. He had done this   to show that he was not happy that he lost party nomination.

Like he had done in the past, Ajadi also got a great deal of public attention on Tuesday following his dramatic return to the APC and his declaration of support for  Governor   Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s re-election bid- Team@orientactualmags.com
