Again, Gbemisola Saraki  Gets Recognized  As Numero uno In Kwara Politics

Ahead of the 2023 general election, former Senator Gbemisola Rukayat Saraki, has gotten recognized as the numero uno in Kwara state politics.

She has actually become the third most talked-about politician in Kwara state leaving Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and former senate president, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki to compete for the first most talked-about politician.

The  top female politician, who is currently the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development,  is  one of the ruling party’s bigwigs .

APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was in Ilorin for the presidential campaign rally last week Tuesday and it was an event attended by APC bigwigs in Kwara state including Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed while Gbemisola was conspicuous by her absence.

Her supporters were however there  in solidarity with the APC presidential candidate.

To show and prove her status as numero uno in Kwara state politics, the minister arrived in Ilorin last week Thursday and rather than attending one or two events and leaving for Abuja, she has stayed put.

Former senator Gbemisola Saraki had begun to get in touch with supporters and hold meetings with them in batches and this development had led to an intense flurry of activity.

Team@orientactualmags.com  learned she had also visited  top politicians in the state at their respective residences and this was not limited to the APC stalwarts. The minister was seen at the Odota, Ilorin  residence of Alhaji Saadu Agaka on Sunday evening.

It was also gathered that she has put a smile on people’s faces, by making letters of appointment available to those that have recently gotten employed by some federal agencies.

Ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election in the state, the minister has also left political pundits and everyone to engage in a guessing game in respect of what she will do and, who, herself and supporters will drum up support for.

This is not the first time that Gbemisola Saraki will have her name being called in a singsong tone ahead of a general election.

As  ex-reps member, Solomon Edoja was getting set to leave as Chairman, Caretaker Committee ,Kwara state PDP, and allow a new set of executives get sworn in on  April 17  2014 , former  Senator Gbemisola Saraki had gotten the political heavy weights in the party shocked to the marrow!

She made it clear that others needed political enervation to stand shoulder to shoulder with her on the political lane. The Chairman of the Electoral Panel was former Senator Barnabas Gemade , a one-time PDP National Chairman.

At the end of the two- day congress, she emerged as Kwara state PDP leader registering herself as a master and authority in the game.   Gbemisola made others face a crushing defeat and had their pride and political egos deeply wounded and deflated and image of superiority badly damaged.

Ahead of the congress, Mr Dele Belgore SAN  had Reverend Bunmi Olushona as his preferred candidate for the position of chairman; while  Gbemisola Saraki had a former CPC State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi as her anointed person for the job.

Gbemisola also had her foot soldier Hassan Razaq better known as ‘Bamu’ as candidate for the position of secretary ,  and others had supported  ex-rep Alhaji Ladi Edun and Barrister Salman Jawondo.

Prince Sunday Fagbemi was screened out before the race took shape  leaving the stage for Olushona, Oyedepo, ex-rep Yinusa Yahaya and Mariam al-Hassan.

Having had the chairmanship position zoned to the Kwara South, Yinusa Yahaya and Al-Hassan were automatically excluded from the race and Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo was chosen as a consensus candidate during the meeting that was later held by Kwara South stakeholders.

Oyedepo’s nomination was later approved by stakeholders in the remaining two senatorial districts during the meeting held at  the GRA residence  of  Governor AbdulRahman  Abdulrazaq.

At the end of the congress, the chairmanship candidate that  former Senator Gbemisola Saraki   supported along with others ; Iyiola Oyedepo emerged  as state chairman. Her political acolyte, Alhaji Hassan Razaq , who she  had single-handedly nominated for the position of secretary , got 219 votes , Ladi Edun had  107 votes  while  Salman Jawondo  got 86 votes respectively.
