Again, Senator Adamu Aliero Gets Recognized As Numero Uno In Kebbi Politics…Reasons Why He Left PDP For APC

General Election will be held in the country in 2027 and in the early stages of the presidential race, Senator Adamu Aliero has gotten recognized as the numero uno in Kebbi State politics.

He has actually become the second most talked-about politician in the Land of Equity, with Governor Nasir Idris being the first most talked-about politician in the state.

Senator Adamu Aliero, who represents Kebbi Central, got a great of public attention a few days ago sequel to his defection to the APC.

The two other senators in the state; Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South) also followed suit.

That was not all, to show and prove his status as numero uno in Kebbi State politics, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party in the 2023 guber polls, Samaila Salihu Bui also joined him in defecting to APC.

This development has left the state PDP with only its guber candidate in the 2023 governorship election, retired General Aminu Bande as almost all the political office holders have left the party.

Sources told Team@orientactualmags.com that Alhaji Adamu Aliero is a valuable politician in Kebbi State with a strong political structure while noting that he had actually left PDP about six months ago but only formalized it last week.

‘Alhaji Aliero has a strong political structure and he can easily gather former political office holders together at short notice.

His younger brother, Alhaji Abubakar Abba Aliero, had met with some APC big wigs in the state and the decision to leave PDP had been taken six months ago’ he said.

It was also learned that while the senator had discussed this with his longtime friend, President Bola Tinubu, it was his younger brother, Alhaji Abubakar Abba Aliero that handled the ‘domestic front’.

Recall that Aliero and Tinubu were both opposition governors between 1999 and 2007 while Tinubu was in AD, Aliero was in APP.

Sources also said Aliero took the decision to join the ruling party in order to protect his ‘business interests’, he is alleged to be the real owner of Labana Rice Mill, which is arguably the largest in the country.

The company sits on 10,000 hectares in Bugudo local government, Kebbi State with Alhaji Abubakar Abba Aliero as its chairman.

Aliero, an ABU Zaria -trained political scientist, at different times, served as governor of Kebbi State, and FCT Minister, and he has been a member of the Nigerian Senate for years now.

A member of the defunct ANPP, he got elected as Senator in 2007, but voluntarily left the Kebbi Central parliament seat and got appointed as FCT Minister in December 2008.

He has also moved in and out of CPC, PDP and APC since 2010.

Senator Aliero made news when he left APC for PDP in June 2022, citing ‘injustices’ faced ‘in our former party, APC’.

It was however learned that he had left the party because the then governor, who is currently the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu was also eyeing the senate nomination which he eventually got but however got defeated by Aliero, who was the Kebbi Central PDP senate candidate .

Sources also told Team@orientactualmags.com that Aliero’s defection has strengthened the governor’s chances of winning re-election and the aggrieved politicians in the state like former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami may have been left in the lurch.

Malami, we learned, is planning to join the 2027 gubernatorial race and he is taking necessary steps to actualize the ‘political ambition’ that almost became a reality in 2023.

The former Justice Minister had gotten all the stakeholders in the state APC to endorse his candidacy ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election until former President Muhammadu Buhari told him that he would like to have him around until his last days in office apparently because of the sensitivity of his role.

Section 84(12) of the Amended Electoral Act requires anyone holding appointive position to resign six months before the election if he or she intends to emerge as a candidate.

This development led to the emergence of Dr Nasir Idris as the party’s guber candidate.

Malami’s supporters are now arguing forcibly that there was an unspoken agreement that the governor will only spend one term while the former minister will take over from him.

‘The former minister’s supporters are trying to demarket the governor but it has been a difficult task for them.

Governor Idris has changed the face of Birni Kebbi totally and there are also infrastructure projects in every part of the state, his efforts to improve security in the state has also not gone unnoticed, he is also reaching out to every stakeholder in terms of empowerment, so, who will campaign against him? The people are not ready to listen to them.

The governor’s approval rating is high’ said a source-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme? Kindly send SMS to 08059100286, 09094171980 or get in touch via orientactualmag@gmail.com.  Thank you
