Airstrikes: We Were Involved, USA ‘A Strategic International Partner’-Defence Headquarters
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Abuja on Friday clarified and submitted that the nation’s armed forces were involved in the airstrikes that targeted ISIS-affiliated terrorists in the northwest earlier in the week calling it a product of coordinated operation that involved both the Nigerian armed forces and the United States forces.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Defence Headquarters said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Samaila Uba noting that the airstrikes were intelligence-driven and carefully planned to weaken operational strength of terrorists while however controlling unintended damage.
The statement added that the go-ahead was gotten from relevant authorities while noting that it is part of ongoing measures to dismantle terrorist networks and other criminal groups posing threats to national security.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria, working alongside the United States, he added, successfully carried out precision air operations against identified foreign ISIS-linked fighters operating in parts of northwest a development that has shown the Federal Government’s firm stance ditto key international allies, against transnational terrorism and the efforts to stop foreign fighters from gaining or expanding influence within the country.
