Ajaero, Predecessors Praise Gov Idris’ Developmental Strides, Exemplary Leadership
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leaders have showered encomiums on Kebbi State governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, for what they described as remarkable developmental strides and exemplary leadership style that have transformed the state within a short period.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the labour leaders gave the commendation in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday during a one-day retreat that had as its theme ‘The Workers’ Diligence to Duty as a Tool for State and National Development’ which was declared open by Idris.

They expressed satisfaction with the visible projects executed across critical sectors of the state’s economy.
Pioneer President of the NLC, Hassan Sunmonu, in his remarks, reflected on the evolution of labour leadership in Nigeria and noted that leaders who have emerged from the labour movement have consistently demonstrated integrity and commitment to the welfare of the people.
Sunmonu noted that after inspecting several projects executed by the Idris administration, he was impressed by the speed and the quality of development recorded in less than three years. He noted that the governor’s performance has vindicated the decision of workers to entrust leadership to one of their own.
Nigeria’s challenges, he added, largely stem from leadership deficits and unfulfilled promises, stressing that Governor Idris represents a refreshing departure marked by sincerity, accountability and delivery of democratic dividends.
Also speaking, former President of NLC Comrade Abdulwaheed Ibrahim Umar lauded the governor for demonstrating competence and commitment to good governance adding that the visible infrastructural development and improved welfare for workers are clear evidence that Kebbi State is on the right path.
Drawing from his background as an educationist, Abdulwaheed likened governance to an examination process, declaring that Governor Idris has ‘passed with flying colours’ judging by the happiness of the people and the tangible achievements on the ground.
He particularly applauded the revitalization of key state initiatives, including the globally acclaimed Argungu Fishing Festival, describing the recent edition as exceptional and a significant boost to the state’s cultural and economic profile.
Also speaking the immediate past President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba, described the Idris administration as one that has brought all-round transformation to Kebbi State. He cited improvements in agriculture, human capital development and infrastructure, including the modernization of schools and health facilities.
Ayuba further highlighted the payment of long-standing pension arrears and the enhancement of workers’ remuneration, asserting that Kebbi now operates one of the most favourable salary structures in the country. He described the governor as honest, fair and compassionate.
The incumbent NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, underscored the importance of diligence to duty, noting that productivity and economic prosperity are directly tied to workers’ commitment and supportive leadership.
Ajaero acknowledged the steady improvements witnessed across sectors in the state, including education, healthcare, transportation and administrative infrastructure.
He remarked that every visit to Kebbi reveals fresh milestones, a testament to purposeful governance.
He maintained that the achievements recorded in the state speak for themselves, stressing that the facts on the ground require no embellishment.
According to him, Kebbi State under Governor Idris stands as a model of progressive leadership rooted in labour values.
In his response, Governor Nasir Idris expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a morale booster and inspiration to intensify developmental efforts. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and people-oriented policies.
The governor recalled that Kebbi was among the first states to implement the new national minimum wage and even approved an upward review to N75,000, thereby ensuring industrial harmony.
He restated his resolve to sustain transparency, accountability and inclusive governance while continuing to prioritize agriculture, social welfare programmes and the commissioning of the new ultramodern State Secretariat to provide an enabling working environment for civil servants.
Highlights of the retreat include the presentation of award of excellence to Dr Nasir Idris in recognition of his outstanding performance in prompt payment of pension and gratuities and death benefits to all categories of workers in the state-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
