Akinlalu Killings: Gov Adeleke Pays Condolence Visit To Alakinlalu’s Palace, Promises To Provide Support For Families Of Victims
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, who cut short his medical trip, has paid a condolence visit to Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, families of victims and people of Akinlalu town over the death of three residents of the town who were reportedly killed by members of Amotekun corps recently.
The governor, who was accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye; the Chief of Staff, Hon Kazeem Akinleye; the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; members of the house of Assembly; and the state executive Council commiserated with victims and the people of Akinlalu town, informing them that his first port of call after arriving in the country is the town in question.
‘I am truly sad. I was in the United States when the unfortunate incident happened. I cut short my medical trip. I arrived late yesterday and I called my team and told them that we need to be here to empathize with the victims’ he said.
The governor, who prayed for the victims, the families and the entire town, commended the people of Akinlalu for their patience and for embracing peaceful push for justice, promising that those responsible for the killings will be brought to book.
‘I can assure you that the perpetrators will face full wrath of the law. There won’t be any sacred cows. Any Amotekun officer needed for interrogation by the police is to cooperate with the investigation team. I have directed the Board chairman of Amotekun security service, retired AIG Wale Abbas to cooperate with the police in respect of their investigation’ the governor submitted while giving his speech at the palace of Alakinlalu of Akinlalu.
Reinforcing updates from the police, the governor said suspects in the dastardly operation are being arrested by the police while urging the people of the town to provide the names of culpable members of Amotekun corps.
‘I commend the people of the town for sustaining peace. We will compensate the families of the victims. We will also build a police station for the town as requested. Akinlalu is our town and the plans of my administration is to fast-track its development. Above all, suspects will face the law’ the governor added.
While welcoming the governor to the town, the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu, Oba Israel Oluwabusola Aborisade, commended him for the infra projects in the town and pleaded with the governor to press hard and ensure that the perpetrators are punished for killing his people.
‘Excellency, we appreciate this visit. Secure justice for us. We trust your leadership. To my people, I urge us to continue to maintain peace. We are confident that the suspects will not go unpunished’ the traditional ruler asserted.
In his remarks, Hon. Oyewusi Ireyode Akinyode who represents Ife North State Constituency, appreciated the people of the town for maintaining peace in the face of provocation while urging them to allow the law enforcement agencies to diligently carry out their investigation.
He emphasized that Akinlalu is bordered by several towns and villages in the neighboring Ondo State, while adding that Amotekun security service is strategically relevant in community policing.
He therefore appealed to the people not to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Earlier, the youth leader in Akinlalu town, Musbau Adeboye started his submission with a note of appreciation for the construction of the Akinlalu township road and praised the several delegations already sent to the town when the governor was out of the country.
