Senate President, Barrister Godswill Akpabio has advised governors who are currently serving second term and are getting set to leave their respective Government Houses to prioritize ‘visionary leadership’ and look for conscious leaders as their successors rather than looking for people who will be malleable.
He also emphasized the need to allow those who are prepared for the job to get elected while noting that those seeking to have people who will kneel before them as successors may be setting the stage for emergence of betrayals after leaving office.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Akpabio said this on Saturday during the inauguration ceremony of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway’s first 30 kilometres in the Lekki area.
The Senate President , a one-time governor of Akwa Ibom State, emphasized importance of visionary leadership, urging second term governors, especially the APC members to place visionary leadership above loyalty.
President Bola Tinubu, Minister for Works, Engineer Dave Umahi, Governor Hope Uzodimma , Governor Dapo Abiodun , and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu attended the event.
‘We have a president who has both sight and vision. And this, for me, is something I must advise our governors, particularly those of them who are having their second term. Do not give power to anybody who is not looking for power.
Don’t give power to anybody who is not prepared. Don’t go hiding in your heart that this boy is very subservient; he is always kneeling down when he is talking to me, and his wife is always rolling on the floor. I think I should make this one the governor.
If you do that, you are giving power to somebody who is not prepared for governance, and they will disappoint you. This is where betrayals normally start. I am just trying to give some advice.
For the progressive governors, I believe that all of you are doing well because you are being led by a man who has both sight and vision’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
