The transformation of the open field popularly called Akerebiata Wembley into a standard community sports facility, according to them marks a turning point for youth and sports development in Ilorin East local government and Kwara State at large.

The Alangua of Ibagun described the initiative as ‘a timely and visionary intervention that will change the lives of our youths positively’ adding that for decades, Akerebiata Wembley has been a hub for raw football talents, but however lacked the structure and facilities to nurture them into professionals.

In his remarks, Ahmed Abdullah emphasized the wider benefits of the upgrade of Akerebiata Wembly to Ilorin East local government, adding that the improved facility will stimulate grassroots football, attract tournaments, and create opportunities for coaches, referees and sports administrators.

‘With a standard pitch, Akerebiata Wembley can host leagues and competitions that will bring economic activity to the area and inspire the next generation of athletes’ he said.

Alangua, Morrow and Abdulahi also praised Senator Sulaiman Sadiq Umar for prioritizing youth empowerment through sports, describing him as a leader who understands the power of football as a tool for unity, peace and development.
