Alleged Budget Padding: PDP Asking Akpabio To Step Aside ‘Ridiculous’-APC

The nation’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress ,APC, submitted on Friday that the leading opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party , PDP, clearly went beyond limits by getting involved in the affairs of the National Assembly and asking Godswill Akpabio to resign from his position as Senate President.
The party noted that the Senate President has done nothing wrong and would have no reason to step aside just because suspended Senator Abdul Ningi had made budget padding allegations.
Recall that the PDP had on Wednesday demanded that Akpabio should resign in order to allow an independent investigation into the alleged padding of the 2024 budget to the tune of N3.7 trillion.
PDP had in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, backed Ningi, while also calling on the Senate President to resign from his position in order to allow an independent investigation.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who reacted to this in a statement he issued in Abuja on Friday, however submitted that Akpabio had neither done anything wrong or unusual that will call for the idea of suggesting that he should step aside nor made to face questioning by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission as a result of Ningi’s allegations.
‘The PDP should quit being a meddlesome interloper, expend its lean energy on revamping its decrepit institution, and leave the Senate to carry on with its important role of deepening our democracy and stabilizing our dear nation.
It is rather ridiculous that the PDP that is unable to govern itself would seek to dictate to the Senate on how it should conduct its proceedings and handle internal matters of discipline of its members’ the statement said-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
