Alleged Christian Genocide: How President Tinubu Applied Diplomacy To Save The Day-Isa Aremu
Director General of Michael Imoudu Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin, Kwara State, Comrade Isa Aremu, on Wednesday praised President Bola Tinubu for applying diplomacy in handling the issue of alleged Christian Genocide in the country and the subsequent threat by President Donald Trump to deploy troops to Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu had according to him used diplomatic channels to handle the seemingly difficult situation rather than engaging in social media spat or heightening tension.

Recall that President Donald Trump of the United States of America had last year claimed that Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria and that it had become imperative to add the ‘Giant of Africa’ to the State Department’s watch list and also include it in the list of ‘Countries of Particular Concern’,
Recall also that President Donald Trump had later in an X.com post asked Pentagon to prepare for ‘action’ in Nigeria in order to tackle Islamist militant groups while accusing Nigerian government of failing to protect the Christians.
Pentagon had later expressed readiness to obey his directive and carry out ‘military action’.
The Pentagon is the headquarters building of the United States Department of Defence.

Delivering his keynote speech during the institution’s fifth Ramadan lecture on Wednesday, Comrade Isa Aremu ,who spoke on ‘The role of Muslims in supporting the bereaved’ said rather than throwing banters or calling President Trump derogatory names, President Tinubu had ‘kept his cool and used diplomatic channels to dissuade him’.
‘President Bola Tinubu used diplomacy to stop Trump from attacking Nigeria over imaginary and un-existing Christian genocide.
If President Tinubu had not applied diplomacy in that case, perhaps, we would have been going after one another; we would by now be killing ourselves.
Come to think of it, the same Trump, three weeks later, commended the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu for her efforts at promoting welfare of the people’ he said.
Comrade Aremu, who also called for diplomacy in settling the ongoing war between Iran and the US, noted that it is better to jaw-jaw than to war-war because of the consequences on the bereaved families.
He also said that the world needs peace, adding that everyone and institution should encourage peaceful coexistence.
Professor AbdulRazaq AbduMajeed Alaro, a lecturer at the University of Ilorin, who was the Guest Lecturer, spoke on the expectations of society from bereaved families while warning against the idea of borrowing money for funeral expenses.
The Islamic cleric, who is the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) advisor on non-interest banking, added that it is mandatory for bereaved families to settle the debts incurred by a deceased person before talking about distribution of inheritance.
‘No one is immune from being bereaved. So, by discussing this topic, we’re taking care of ourselves and the bereaved people. Bereaved people need our support.
Supporting the bereaved people is in two ways. It should be during and after the mourning period. Support should be during the interment by helping in paying the debt incurred by a deceased person, funeral expenses and timely distribution of inheritance.
Support for the bereaved people after the burial will come in the way of providing support for the children and family of the deceased person. Also, one should key into orphanage home’s programmes to support the bereaved families’ he added- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
