Alleged Internet Fraud: Naira Marley Absent In Court…Case Adjourned Until Nov 13

Hip hop act , Azeez Fashola popularly called Naira Marley, who is facing trial for alleged internet fraud, was absent in court on Monday and this has made Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court , Ikoyi, Lagos, to adjourn the case until November 13.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, disclosed this on Monday via a Facebook post.

Naira Marley is facing charges bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud.
Counsel for the defendant, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, had during the last sitting on October 6, 2023, informed the court that Naira Marley was unavoidably absent in court owing to his detention by the police for interrogation in respect of the death of a singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.
Ojo had, therefore, asked the court for an adjournment.
Responding, the prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, had prayed the court to issue a production warrant against the defendant to ensure his presence in court on the next adjourned date.
After listening to both parties, Justice Oweibo granted the prayers of the prosecution counsel and also issued a production warrant against the defendant while adjourning the case until Monday, October 30, 2023.
The defendant was not present in court on Monday and Buhari told the court that though the prosecution served the police the production warrant, the defendant was not however brought to court.
She, therefore, urged the court to allow them to engage with the police in order that they can produce the defendant.
Consequently, the judge adjourned the case until November 13 and 30, 2023 for continuation of trial-Team@orientactualmags.com
