Alleged State-Sponsored Banditry: Unmask ‘Oga Victor’, Step Aside To Allow ‘Independent Investigation’, Kwara PDP Tells Gov Abdulrazaq
Kwara State PDP on Monday asked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to step aside in order to allow an ‘independent investigation’ into allegations of state-sponsored banditry.
The party cited a viral video that had made some social media users in the state raise allegations of state-sponsored banditry.
Presiding over a press conference at the state secretariat, Ilorin on behalf of the chairman, Hon Isa Bawa, the state Secretary, Mr Abdulahi Kayode said the allegation has cast serious doubt on the integrity of the governor, he should therefore according to him step aside to allow a thorough and unhindered investigation into the matter.
The press conference was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com.
‘We are deeply disturbed by the widely circulated video and reports of arrested criminal bandits apprehended by men of the Nigerian Army in faraway Auchi, Edo State. In the said video, the criminal suspects categorically alleged that officials of the Kwara State Government supplied them with AK-47 rifles and a government-crested operational vehicle for their criminal activities.
In the video currently circulating on social media, the suspects were seen in a prostrate position, hands tied, while being interrogated by security agents about the source of their weapons and logistics. One of the suspects stated clearly that: ‘We have been here for quite a while. We are using the vehicle for patrol. Wallahi, na the truth I dey tell you. The Ilorin government gave us this motor and the weapons. They were the ones that gave us the rifles. We are not the ones that collected the rifles; it was our oga that collected them. I know because I was with them. We go on patrol many times with them, including Oga Victor. All of them are involved. The weapons are from them’ the party quoted one of the suspects as saying while adding that ‘this development places an enormous burden of explanation squarely on the doorstep of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who is not only the Chief Executive of the state but constitutionally the Chief Security Officer of Kwara State. This is a direct allegation of state-sponsored criminality that must not be swept under the carpet’.
Kwara PDP also lamented that between January and November 2025, over 507 persons were killed, and at least 377 people were abducted in the state with Ifelodun, Patigi, Edu, Ekiti, Isin, and Irepodun local governments as most severely affected.
The party emphasized the need for the state government to unmask ‘Oga Victor’ whose name was mentioned in connection with what took place before the bandits struck in Oke-Ode on September 28,2025, and who has also been allegedly mentioned by the chaps who were reportedly arrested in Auchi, Edo State.
‘The same name mentioned in that Oke-Ode incident — ‘Oga Victor’ — is the same name mentioned by the criminal suspects in the Edo confession video. This coincidence is too grave to be ignored. We, therefore, demand immediate public answers from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq: Who is ‘Oga Victor’? What official role does he play for the Kwara State Government? Why did Governor Abdulrahman authorize the release of AK-47 rifles to non-state actors? How did a government-customized patrol vehicle assigned to Ifelodun Local Government end up in the hands of bandits in Edo State? Who approved the movement of that vehicle outside its statutory jurisdiction?’ the party added.
Kwara PDP has also asked President Bola Tinubu to not only declare a state of emergency in the state but to also order an investigation into the matter while the Office of the National Security Adviser should suspend discussion of issues that have to do with security with the governor at least for now.
‘We therefore call on the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to treat the situation in Kwara State as a matter of urgent national concern. A comprehensive federal investigation must be carried out into the confessions of the arrested criminals, particularly their claims that the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq–led Kwara State Government sponsored and supported their criminal activities.
In the interest of justice, morality, and public safety, it is reasonable to demand the declaration of a state of emergency in Kwara State, including the suspension of the governor, to enable an independent, transparent, and interference-free investigation into these allegations. We further urge the Office of the National Security Adviser to immediately advise all Service Chiefs and security agencies to suspend any official engagements or interfaces with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq or his representatives pending the conclusion of these investigations, as he can no longer be trusted with sensitive security details’ Hon Abdulahi submitted while noting that there is a need for the security agencies in the state especially the Nigeria Police Force, to immediately commence ‘the retrieval of all patrol vehicles allocated to local governments and return them to the police headquarters.’.
Responding to questions from reporters; Mr Abdulahi Kayode, Reverend C.O Fawenu, Comrade Yinka Otukoko and Chief Mrs. Wosilatu McCarthy noted there’s more to the issue than meets the eye.
Fawenu said the press statement issued by the state government is ‘disturbing and questionable’ because rather than addressing the main issue , it according to him focused on arguments over the location where the chaps were arrested.
He also picked holes in the explanations given by the Chairman of Ifelodun local government, Hon Femi Yusuf submitting that he had failed to inform the public about the missing patrol van until the scandal blew up.
Mr Abdulahi Kayode also said the party did not ask the House of Assembly to launch an investigation into the issue because the people of the state had long before now lost confidence in the state parliament while Comrade Yinka Otukoko noted that the status of the people arrested became questionable following alleged contradictory statements from the government.
He also noted that the chaps who were arrested claimed that they allegedly got weapons from ‘Ilorin government’ and government at the state level involves the legislature they will therefore not be expected to be a judge in their own case-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
