Members of the Steering Committee set up by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) which is tasked with promoting renewable energy systems at the nation’s tertiary institutions and providing ‘necessary support’, have made an ‘assessment visit’ to the Yakubu Gowon University formerly University of Abuja.
Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, who represents North Central on the Board of TETFUND, is a member of the Steering Committee and he joined others to visit Yakubu Gowon University on Wednesday.

Recall that Chairman, Board of Trustees of TETFund, Hon. Aminu Masari had while inaugurating the committee last month noted that the introduction of the special intervention programme will help to address power supply problems at the nation’s tertiary institutions.
The visit is part of the broad-based efforts to address electricity issues in selected tertiary institutions in the country cognizant that electricity has emerged as one of the highest overhead costs for tertiary institutions across the country following increase in electricity tariffs by the DISCOs.

Additionally, the ongoing assessment and consultation by TETFund is tailored towards equipping tertiary institutions across the country with stable power supply to stabilize research activities, improve efficiency, enhance the quality of educational services and activate other areas of development.

This initiative is being driven in partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency, Energy Commission of Nigeria, and other development partners.
The committee, during the visit, assessed the 3 Megawatts LNG powered plant by Julius Berger and 11 Megawatts CNG powered plant by NNPCL.
While the consultation continues, cost effectiveness and sustenance of intervention remain a key interest of the committee-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
