Alumni Exco: Unilorin Affirms Abdulrazaq Kilani As ‘Legitimate’ National President

Alumni Exco: Unilorin Affirms Abdulrazaq Kilani As ‘Legitimate’ National President

The University of Ilorin, Ilorin on Wednesday made its stance known on the infighting among members of the Unilorin Alumni Association while submitting that it was fully aware that ‘new leaders’ were produced on August 24,2024, and they have since been duly recognized.

The new Executive Committee, the university added, is headed by Prof. Abdulrazaq Olubusuyi Kilani and the university has described Dr Wale Fasakin’s decision to continue to parade himself as the association’s president as not only condemnable but reprehensible.

The institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun told journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com that the tenure of Dr Fasakin ‘came to an end in 2021 through a resolution of the congress held by the association while a Caretaker Committee was, thereafter, put in place and it was in charge of the affairs of the Association till the congress was held in August 2024 during which the new exco was elected.

Recall that Fasakin had recently led some people on a ‘courtesy visit’ to an alumna of the University, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Services, Mrs Kemi Nandap, during which they reportedly claimed to have done this on behalf of the National Executive Committee of the Unilorin Alumni Association.

Mr. Akogun said, ‘Even though the University Management does not want to dabble into the internal affairs of the Alumni Association, it can no longer sit back and watch the existing unity in the Association getting destroyed by needless wrangling.

The University appreciates the relevance of the Association and its potential to make positive contributions to the overall development of the University, so, it would stridently continue to find a way of promoting internal peace and harmony within the Association’.

While calling on Dr Fasakin to stop parading himself as National President of the Unilorin Alumni Association, especially as a new executive committee is already in place, Mr. Akogun urged ‘all corporate organizations, government officials, and other well-meaning individuals as well as stakeholders in the University to stop giving audience to Dr Fasakin or transact any business with him, as he has ceased to be an official of the Association and  he is no longer in any position to represent it’-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
