Anambra state Government has told owners of private schools in the state that installation of Close Circuit Television Cameras is now mandatory while threatening to order the closure of any school that fails to do this.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, who announced this in a statement, titled, ‘No camera, no approval in Anambra State’ which was issued by her media aide, Nnaemeka Egwuonwu, on Sunday. added that the installation of CCTV has become necessary in order to monitor activities at schools in the state.
Chuma-Udeh said this was sequel to the report by a parent that a teacher, Mrs. Ogidi Oluchukwu beat his child.
‘Commissioner for Education Anambra state, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, has said that henceforth, the installation of the camera has become a condition for approval of any private school.
Addressing the management team of Living Word Magnet School, Awka, in her office, Chuma-Udeh said that this has become necessary for monitoring activities in the school.
This followed a report by a parent that a teacher, Mrs Ogidi Oluchukwu manhandled his child, the school was invited to the Commissioner’s office to explain.
The Commissioner warned teachers against beating any child, pointing out that any teacher who beats a child has become an enemy to such a child, and no lesson from her is to be understood by the child.
The Commissioner directed that the teacher should be removed from the class, warning that if any report comes from the school again, the school will be shut down.
