APC Bigwigs In Ijesha Land Seeking To Harm My Reputation..I ‘ll Ensure Quality Representation If Elected Reps Member- Sanya Omirin

A prominent politician in Osun state, Hon Sanya Omirin, has asserted that he had always been a polished and refined gentleman while alleging that some APC bigwigs in the state have had fixation on him and had been seeking to harm his reputation.

Hon Sanya Omirin , a former Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, is the  Ijesha South PDP House of Representatives candidate, and in this interview with Team@orientactualmags.com, he talked about his legislative agenda and promised to ensure quality representation if elected as member of the House of Representatives.

Presidential and national assembly elections will hold on Saturday, 25 February 2023.

Read On:

What are the two most important bills that you intend to champion if you become a member of the House of Representatives?

What I intend to do as a member of the House of Representatives is to give my constituents quality  and responsible representation.

I will keep in touch with them regularly ,  actually, I would not want them to even realize that I have relocated to Abuja because I will keep in constant touch with them through social media platforms and through my constituency offices.

Yes, I will be busy with legislative duties but I will ensure that I visit home regularly.

Back to your question , in my first month as a member of the House of Representatives, I will organize a town hall meeting that will have my constituents in attendance  , we will discuss issues and I will prioritize whatever they want even though I have mine which are bills that will strengthen social security and the security architecture of the country.

As a federal lawmaker, in what way will you ensure  that the country gets on a path to greater consensus rather than partisanship?

You see, one of the major problems and challenges we  have faced as a country over the years is  that we have been badly divided along religious and tribal lines.

The National Orientation Agency will have to be strengthened and given the wherewithal to preach patriotism, nationalism and commitment to national unity.

As a member of the House of Representatives where we would have Christians , Muslims, Yoruba, Igbo , Hausa, Efik, Ibibio and others , I will ensure that I only interact with colleagues on the basis of our status as Nigerians.

And any issue that will be brought under our consideration, we will place the interest of the country above any other one.

If we are able to do this, it will trickle down and every Nigerian will follow suit.

What steps will you take to help in improving the economy and creating jobs for the young people?

People have known me as someone that had consistently  promoted the idea of creating job opportunities for the young people in order to tackle insecurity, youth delinquency and  other vices.

I will ensure that I facilitate the establishment of agencies that will provide jobs for my constituents in my constituency , I will also go all out to encourage indigenes of towns and villages in my constituency ,who have become successful businessmen and businesswomen, to invest in our constituency.  I will visit them and urge them to do this.

I will also introduce programmes that can make the young people become self-employed and self-independent.

Not everyone will want whilte collar jobs, we must encourage  ypung people to acquire skills and start businesses , this will also strengthen the SMEs  and grow the economy of  our constituency.

We have faced security problems in the country for years now, what do you think can be done to tackle insecurity and end safety fears in the country?

This has become a worrisome development, no one feels safe anywhere in the country, and we have safety fears everywhere.

Actually , tackling insecurity will the number one priority  once the PDP  becomes the ruling party at the federal level.

We must strengthen and step up  our intelligence gathering.

Once we can do this, we will definitely  facedown insecurity in the country or at least reduce incidents of attacks.

We must give the issue every attention that is needed and we need to also restrategize and come up with new ideas of addressing the issue. It will not be a bad idea if we can convene a security summit.

You see ,I have also said this several times, if we must tackle insecurity in this country, we must strengthen the third tier of government. They are close to the grassroots. I intend to come up with a bill that will give more powers to the local government because it has gone beyond the idea of autonomy. We must add more to their powers.

If we have ward chairmen taking charge of things in their respective wards. If there is a problem anywhere the councilor of the affected area will know the suspects.

We need to strengthen the local government and doing  this will solve many problems.

People will be free to do things the way they want in their local government. For example in Delaware, United States, most of what you do there are tax-free. They must have gotten tenable reason for doing this and this must have attracted visitors and investments to the place.

What is also your take on fixing nation’s woes and reducing the debt?

Nigeria’s debt which was $10.32billion before PDP left government about eight years ago has gotten increased to $40.06bn under President Muhammadu Buhari .

This is one of the reasons why we have continued to urge Nigerians to vote for Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.

He has the courage,  he is competent and he has the needed experience to fix the nation’s woes.

Nigerians should vote  for the PDP presidential candidate and other candidates of the party.

Alhaji Atiku needs the support of the federal lawmakers to ease governance for him and  the best thing is to vote for PDP candidates across the board.

Many have talked about making everyone to adopt the problem-solving attitude rather that engaging in blame shifting.. What is your take?

Yes, our main agenda is to solve  and address the nation’s problems.

We have made our campaigns issue-based, it is the APC  that has been engaging in character assassination  and hate speeches.

We have only hit the campaign trail to tell Nigerians why they should vote for our party.

And we have  competent candidates  who will change things for the better in the country.

Just  yesterday, the opposition party  put out a statement accusing you of promoting violence and they have sought to  show you and your party in a bad light, some of your supporters have described this as an attempt to harm your reputation asserting that you are a refined and polished gentleman, are you truly a gentleman?

Without any fear of contradiction, I will say that Iam a gentleman, I have always been a gentleman and I will continue to be a gentleman.

Actually, you should not be surprised because APC is a party that had been known for promoting lies and propaganda.

The  APC is trying to play the sympathy card but our people are enlightened and they know what is happening.

One thing I want you to know is that our people must have by now realized that these people are only out to harm my reputation.

And if you ask ‘why are they doing this? It is simple, they want to demarket me by painting me in a bad light but our people know  that they are only targeting me because they know they do not have a popular candidate.

APC  bigwigs in my senatorial district are the people promoting political violence. One of their thugs Tobiloba Lucifer was arrested recently , please ask them who was at the police station to secure his release. It was Speaker Timothy Owoeye.

Also, who was taken to the Federal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau (FIIBAlagbon, Lagos because he was in possession of illegal weapons? It was their candidate for Osun East.

They want to   ruin my image but they have forgotten that God is there for me.

Their fixation on Omirin has  become strange, Why Omirin every time?

Three of my supporters were killed on Tuesday and they rushed to the press to allege that ‘Omirin has killed five people again oo’.

APC leaders in Ijesha land should tame their thugs including Tobiloba Lucifer, Asunmo Irojo , Tunde Enuose  and Segun Agbada.

Iam a peace-loving and an easy-going man . They know that an election loss is imminent, and they want to spoil my image to promote their unpopular candidate, but they have failed because our people are not stupid -Team@orientactualmags.com
